Responsibilities

This is highly responsible professional and administrative work assisting in the operation and management of a clinical laboratory Outreacch program. An employee in a position allocated to this classification is responsible for ensuring smooth work flow in each area of the laboratory; solving staffing problems; evaluating new equipment; maintaining laboratory quality control; assisting with budget preparation; assisting with employee selection and conducting evaluations;Conducting clients satisfaction surveys; developing and implementing laboratory policies in accordance with all federal and state regulations; work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through reports and conferences for achievement of department goals; assists in solving employee and staffing problems; evaluates new equipment.Interprets federal and state regulations ensuring compliance; assists in the budget preparation of personnel, supplies, and equipment; maintains laboratory records as required by regulatory agencies; screens employment and reclassification requests; evaluates performance of personnel; coordinates research and development of new procedures; troubleshoots equipment failures; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in medical technology from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of progressively responsible experience as a Medical Technologist, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Registry with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist.
