Responsibilities

This is professional accounting work supervising varied and complex activities of accounting personnel. An employee in a position allocated to this class supervises and participates in various accounting activities such as preparing annual operating and capital equipment budgets; supervising the preparation of monthly financial statements; controlling and reviewing journal voucher entries; preparing monthly reports on investments; accounting for contract, grant and plant funds; and preparing and maintaining reports on activities performed; work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior and is reviewed through reports and conferences; supervises and participates in the preparation of annual operating and capital equipment budgets using a PC and calculator; supervises the preparation of monthly financial statements; controls and reviews journal voucher entries; prepares monthly reports on investments; accounts for contract, grant and plant funds; prepares and maintains reports on activities performed; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and four years of professional accounting experience. A master’s degree in accounting may be substituted for one year of the required experience
