Job Description Albemarle is seeking a Project Engineer for our Corporate Engineering Group, located in Magnolia, AR. This is a dual role position to function primarily as a project engineer with overlapping engineering responsibilities of being the technical filter for the Project Manager. Project Engineering Responsibilities: As a project engineer, efforts will include coordinating between internal Albemarle resources and external engineering contractors who will be executing detail design. This will also include the following efforts: In-depth knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Project. Experience with SAP Project Module and other basic SAP transactions desirable Provide leadership in executing the project scope including change management Preparing or coordinating the preparation of construction bid packages, evaluating bid proposals and selection of contractors. Report project status on cost and schedule. Review of technical specifications, design documents and vendor documentation and coordination of internal resources for evaluations and return of comments. Alignment of project execution schedules from engineering through construction to assure a prioritized approach for fast-track execution. Ensuring the proper balance between cost, schedule and quality of the finished project Coordinating and leading project team in planning, developing, and implementing the project scope of work; including meetings, setting priorities, evaluating comments/requests and ensuring internal customer approval Mechanical Design Responsibilities: Construction package design, including equipment location plans, plot plans, piping design and equipment design Ensure engineering designs comply with best practice standards and codes, current and future legislative requirements and Albemarle guidelines. Analyze existing and proposed equipment for applicability of the selected equipment in the intended application. Be aware and knowledgeable of ASME and other applicable codes, piping stress design, equipment layout, structural and machine design improvements Be aware of the corrosive nature of a chemical plant environment and evaluate design solutions developed for the project. Familiar with exotic material of construction, such as titanium, tantalum, glass-lined equipment, thermoplastics and FRP. Knowledge of industrial scale systems including metal pipe fabrication, automated valves, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, agitators, relief systems, centrifugal pumps, vacuum pumps, mechanical seals, refrigeration machines, etc. Preparing or coordinating the preparation of construction bid packages, evaluating bid proposals and selection of contractors. Skills Required: Problem Solving: Must be able to understand and interpret technical material. Must be able to solve problems quickly, completely, accurately, and to the satisfaction of all parties involved. Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of project process and practices for successful project execution. Knowledge of engineering codes and standards. Knowledge of all engineering disciplines. Must be self-motivated and possess good organizational skills. Must be able to work alone and accomplish responsibilities with only general direction. Able to work as part of a team. Attention to details, follow high standards for accuracy and completeness, and accept constructive criticism from coworkers. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Client Contact: Must have the ability to work with clients to fulfill their project related issues. Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferable Mechanical or Civil 2-3 years of experience in early project management/engineering Magnolia site employees should be aware of both the Albemarle Magnolia Site Quality Policy and the Albemarle Magnolia Site Quality Objectives plus understand how their role contributes to each.
