Job Description The Estimating Manager will act as an expert technical resource and provide leadership for the Estimating function within the Global Capital Projects team. Develops and Champions the Albemarle Corporate Estimating standards and supports the establishment of the overall cost baseline used in each FEL Stage Gate. Coordinates deliverable requirements from various sources to ensure accurate and competitive estimates and engages with project Stakeholders to effectively communicate estimate outcomes. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in estimating and related job disciplines. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Serves as Estimating subject matter expert. Ability to lead an Estimating team and identify and manage resources appropriately. Provides estimates to evaluate various conceptual alternates and support economic evaluations. Utilizes historical data with appropriate installation factors, site specific factors and experience to produce cost estimates for project authorization and execution purposes. Collects and correlates necessary project-related cost and schedule data needed to determine equipment, material, subcontract, construction labor, expenses, and indirect reports such as engineering and taxes. Ensures accuracy of estimates by working closely with project team members to understand scope and details of project. Evaluates project deviations in order to provide data to project steering team for proper decision making. Keeps abreast of global economic trends and execution methods that affect project capital costs. Provides supporting data for project teams, external benchmarking, and project closure. Prepare estimate summary package and present to internal stakeholders. Utilizes project estimated scope of work and aligns costs with schedule. Contributes to improvement of Cost Estimating Work Process and leveraging of learning experiences. Supports the implementation of best practices and procedures. Anticipate issues and risks and develop solutions. Provides coaching and training to Junior Estimators. Global travel may be required to support business critical Project needs. Other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: Demonstrate SME level competency and complete understanding of Estimating core processes. Strong organizational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines. Expert skill level of various estimating methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to the estimate types, classifications, and components. Experience with all contracting strategies (lump sum, unit rate, T&M) and estimate buildup for each. Display proficiency in the use of tools required to develop requested estimates (Aspen). Possesses a high level of persuasion skills and ability to effectively communicate and influence various stakeholder levels. Knowledge and experience in EPC and construction estimating practices and methods. Practical experience in understanding project scope including performing quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and cost and price analysis. Skill in understanding technical discipline processes. Familiar with engineering and construction codes and standards. Familiar with the various components of Owner’s cost in relation to estimates. Demonstrate applied analytical and quantitative skills. Effective in utilizing metrics to provide reasonableness checks. High level communication skills with all levels of stakeholders. Experience: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is preferred or 10 years’ experience in lieu of degree. At least 10 years of project experience in a similar industry is required. At least 10 years of estimating experience is required. Previous work experience in major project development and execution, typically involving costs exceeding US$100 million.
