Job Description The Project Cost Controls Lead ensures successful cost controls of all process gases projects driven by the Americas project delivery, including asset (Sale of Gas) and third party (Sale of Equipment) projects. The successful candidate will lead a team of people working on a portfolio of projects. They will be actively engaged in helping to achieve competitiveness, successful project execution, productive internal/external interfaces, and risk management. Roles and Responsibilities: Manage the designated group’s day-to-day activities, queries, workload forecast, workload assignments, and prioritisation to support projects, bids, and estimates as the need arises. Act as a focal point/supervisor for the designated group during project execution, providing leadership and mentorship to direct reports, ensuring adherence to Project Controls procedures and execution strategy, encouraged quality of deliverables, project budget and schedules. Maintain direct report to the Americas Manager of Project Controls with regularly scheduled meetings as well as written and verbal communication as required. Seek proactive attitude in identifying issues / risks early on to raise red flags and produce resolutions for mitigation. Following the definition of scope, establishes strategies for execution, procurement, construction, and start-up. Works with AP cost estimating and project controls resources to estimate cost and schedule for funding authorization. Collaborate closely with the Americas Manager of Project Controls for needed mentorship, circumstances requiring elevation, and assistance with resource management to achieve and meet project schedules and budgets. Represent their group’ s voice in discussions with the Leadership and the other regional section leads for consistent streamlined execution and idea sharing. Project Co-ordination – prioritise and co-ordinate projects for the Regional Directors, follow through on issues in a timely manner. Lead by example. Role model safety behavior and actively reinforce the creation of a safe behavioural culture. Act as mentor and motivator to help guide all members of the team, including CDPs, and interns. Ensure that their team has the right people and right skills to meet the current and future business demands. Responsible for training their team members on project cost control activities such as cost forecasting, change management, risk management, earned value management. Responsible to review and check work built by their team members prior to monthly project reviews. Ensure all changes are handled in accordance with the project procedures and is responsible for the whole lessons learned process Responsible for implementing an onboarding plan specific to the new hire including New Hire Safety Training. Responsible for Workday/SAP set up and changes as the need arises by Resources’ employment status / promotion / change of location / departure from Company. Responsible for approving Travel Safety briefings and guiding resources on domestic and international travel safety issues. Implement performance target reviews in line with the HR expectations, lead performance evaluation process for all direct reports and provide recommendation on High Performers, High Potentials, and promotions. Required Skills / Abilities: Minimum 15 years’ project cost controls experience. Sound knowledge, confirmed skills, and proficiencies in application of project execution principles, methodologies, and tools, supporting all phases of project execution, particularly around cost forecasting, progress measurement/reporting and earned value, within a large project-oriented EPC or Owner Organization. Must have a track record of delivering accurate cost controls information, reporting and mentorship to senior management. Experience within an Oil & Gas, Chemical processing or related business and equivalent projects a further benefit. Tools: SAP, Ecosys, sophisticated excel are a must. Experience using risk (schedule quality and cost) analysis software desirable. Global Project Execution Experience: Proven skills and experience of working on projects on global basis, driven by multiple engineering offices. Understanding of a variety of project types, structures, and contract terms. Travel: Potential to travel internationally to other regional engineering offices as well as domestically to support project / organizational needs. Location: Must be willing to work from different job locations. Depending on project phase, individual will need to work in one of Air Product’s execution offices, within third party EPC’s office, and from construction job sites. People Management: Proven skills and experience of developing a team of people, including hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, workload planning, mentoring on technical and soft skills. Core proficiencies: Commercial and technical acumen, detailed solid understanding of project planning tools and systems. Confirmed skills in planning coupled with a solid understanding of project management and cost control. Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Engineering, or industrial field.
