An Oliver Wyman CAVOK Subject Matter Expert (SME) will often relate to one of the sectors but multi-sector experience is a plus. The Airports Operations SME will be part of Oliver Wyman CAVOK’s comprehensive technical advisory support and services that relate to safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. They will work primarily with the aviation sector in assisting clients with operational changes driven by regulatory requirements or operational necessity. They will apply their extensive experience in domestic and international airline airport operations, associated infrastructure, and regulatory requirements to define best practice policies and procedures while promoting a Safety Management System (SMS) safety culture and defining risk mitigation practices. Knowledge of industry or cross-industry best practices, process evaluation/improvement methodologies, and project management are important competencies. Key Responsibilities: Providing subject matter expertise to clients in all matters related to airline airport operations and infrastructure Developing and revising technical and/or operational manuals to be compliant with applicable regulations and customer specifications which include appropriate Safety Management System (SMS) elements Developing alternative or new solutions to emergent operational or regulatory compliance issues or initiatives based on industry/regulatory guidance, experience, and data analysis Conducting element design assessments ensuring policies and processes comply with regulatory guidance Writing technical documentation that is accurate, complete, and complies with standards for quality, format, and style Facilitating client work sessions and meetings with attendees varying from line workers to senior management Presenting solutions to clients and colleagues to ensure positive customer interface Communicating with and supporting clients thoroughly and consistently to ensure high quality deliverables Assisting with implementation of recommended action plans ensuring effective and efficient change management and intended improvements Providing project management for client initiatives to ensure timely delivery and accountability for both client and firm requirements and deliverables Traveling nationally and internationally, as required, to support clients Education and Experience: Five years or more experience in domestic and international airline station operations, including above and below wing operations Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience/training Pertinent sector licensing and/or ratings Must have relevant 14 CFR Part 121 or 135 airline operations experience and working knowledge of associated regulations Experience creating or revising operational procedures manuals and FAA approved programs Working knowledge of weight and balance, deice/anti-icing, hazardous materials, passengers with disabilities, and OSHA regulations Experience working with airline airport operation employees, union and non-union, to include customer service agents, gate agents, ramp agents, and cargo agents Formal training in project management, planning, and process improvement methodologies is a plus Skills and Attributes: Knowledge of sector equipment and infrastructure programs, philosophies, and methods for domestic and international airline station operations, including; airline station management, ticketing (Complaint Resolution Official), gates, ramp operations (baggage, weight and balance), security, cargo, deice/anti-ice, hazardous materials/dangerous goods, ground service equipment, etc. Demonstrated ability to write and review technical documents for clarity, grammar, and regulatory compliance; and ability to comply with defined technical writing standards Demonstrated ability to work with the FAA when coordinating and implementing new processes and procedures Knowledge regulatory requirements for domestic and international airline airport operations and broad knowledge of all airline functions and the interrelationships between functional areas (FAA, TSA, local authorities, and vendors) Comprehensive knowledge of SMS principles, airline operational manuals, control documents, terms, programs, and regulations Possess knowledge of FAA Certification Processes defined by FAA 8900.1 documentation and familiarity with FAA Element Design Data Collection Tools (ED DCTs) Ability to generate well-structured proposals and presentations paying attention to detail Strong analytical and organizational skills to design, structure, and organize air carrier procedures used to generate manual content Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio), Adobe (Acrobat and FrameMaker), and the aptitude to learn customized company software programs; XML a plus Effective written and verbal communication, time management, and organization skills Customer Service oriented with ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing work environment Ability to be productive in a team environment and interface professionally, credibly, and objectively with colleagues and clients Self-directed, resourceful, willing to take initiative, work independently, and solve problems with minimal supervision Pays attention to detail and is a champion for accuracy and quality How to Apply Please send resume/CV and cover letter to: CAVOK.Careers@cavokgroup.com To learn more, please follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter: @OliverWyman http://cavok.oliverwyman.com/careers With more than 2,900 professionals in over 40 cities around the globe, Oliver Wyman is the leading management consulting firm that combines deep industry knowledge with specialized expertise in strategy, operations, risk management, organizational transformation, and leadership development.
