Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls, MT is searching for an Information System Security Manager for Delta 6 (NH-2210-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
Ready to put your IT skills to use for the United States Space Force? Come join our team as n information systems security manager and help secure our Nation's interests in, from, and to space. In this position, you will play a critical role in helping safeguard the cyber terrain that is vital to the Space Force mission. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks related to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and cyber security. There will also be numerous opportunities to improve your knowledge and skills by attending advanced training. Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a bias for action and skilled at both written and verbal communication. The candidate will have knowledge of cybersecurity principles used to manage risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information and data. The candidate will be knowledgeable on current industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating information technology (IT) security assessments, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools. Background: Desired experience in information security and the Risk Management Framework (RMF). A familiarity with creating policies that reflect system security objectives. Knowledge of incident response, handling methodologies, and risk management procedures. Desired industry certification: CISSP, CISM, or other IAM Level II certification.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Knowledge of the application and implementation of cyber security methods and controls on government information systems. Technical knowledge of information systems security operations, systems design and configuration, facilities, practices and methodology, both in Government and industry, including in-depth knowledge of cyber security policies such as, DoD Instruction 8510.01, NIST 800-53 standards, and FISMA guidelines.
2. Knowledge of National, DoD, and Air Force Program IT regulations, policies, and security requirements relevant to certification and accreditation, network operations and protocols, systems testing and evaluation, and performance management; sufficient knowledge to plan and conduct security accreditation reviews for installed systems/networks, initiate accreditation for future systems/networks, and advise on security measures or countermeasures based on the results of accreditation reviews.
3. Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices and tools for planning, developing, coordinating, scheduling, implementing, and managing cybersecurity projects and resources including: network hardening, threat and vulnerability assessments, incident response, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and dissemination of IT security tools and procedures.
4. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the assessment and authorization (A&A) process, IAW the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology and comprehends IT security procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of Air Force assessment and authorization processes, templates, tools and databases for system accreditation.
5. Knowledge of a full range of IT security principles, concepts, methods sufficient to develop and coordinate security policies, standards and techniques for protecting information systems from vulnerabilities including viruses, data tampering, unauthorized system entry, and other unique threats.
6. Knowledge of the latest advancements in secure information technology sufficient to initiate corrective or preventative action for system improvements and renewal or re-accomplishment of accreditation.
7. Ability to negotiate complex issues, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, complex issues, reports, and briefings in a clear, concise format for senior military and civilian officials through the government and in private industry.
8. Ability to present briefings, talks, speeches, and lectures on cybersecurity and risk management, to a variety of audiences, in addition, able to communicate complex information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well-organized manner through verbal, written, and/or visual means.
