The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Space Force Base is searching for a Director for the 61st Force Support Squadron (NH-0301-04, GS 14/15 equivalent).
Description:
To serve as the Force Support Squadron (FSS) Director. This position manages the activities of the FSS and oversees the planning, direction, and timely execution of high visibility FSS programs. Incumbent makes technical and executive decisions for the squadron in all areas of functional responsibility. Possesses the same authority and prerogatives as a military commander, excluding UCMJ authority which is vested in military officers only.
Serves as an advisor to commanders on force support issues; directs short and long range programs addressing a broad range of Air Force (AF) community needs and interests. Formulates strategic policies and procedures to administer personnel readiness and mobility activities, community support functions, mission sustaining and quality of life programs. Directly supervises the marketing function; ensures a five-year marketing plan is accomplished and executed. Through marketing completes AF, Major Command (MAJCOM), and local surveys. Manages activities and personnel of the organization through flight chiefs and subordinate support staff, and provides subordinate supervisors and staff with direction and advice regarding policies, procedures, and guidelines. Reviews and approves all non-appropriated (NAF) and appropriated (APF) budges and submits necessary items to the NAF council. Prepares and presents financial analysis of activities to the MAJCOM as required. Serves as the base Mortuary Officer, and is responsible for the necessary funding, training, and deployment of the Search and Recovery Program.

Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Skill in managing the work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements, goals, and objectives within available resources. Ability to plan, organizes, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization directly and through subordinate supervisors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of manpower concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of personnel (civilian and military) concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; knowledge of a wide range of services concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices; and practical knowledge of education, readiness, and budget execution concepts, principles, operations, and practices.

Requirements:
1. Must be a U.S Citizen.
2. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
3. May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
4. May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
5. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
6. This position is not eligible for telework.
7. PCS / Relocation funding is available.
