US&S is Hiring an Electrician General Maintenanc (44172) Near Aiken, SC

Position SummaryElectricians help create, maintain and repair the electronic components and equipment used in any equipment or device that involves electricity. They can sometimes work with electricians or electrical engineers, or work on site to keep machinery and specialty equipment running correctly.
Electricians use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate how electrical equipment is working, building or calibrating instrumentation, build electronic devices based on reading schematics, inspect for problems, replace old equipment and install new equipment, and much more.
Essential Job FunctionsThrough the employee's own efforts, the employee accomplishes the following essential functions:
  • Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment
  • Remain in compliance with current National Electric Code
  • Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
  • Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs
  • Run computer cables, connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate operation

  • Ensures the safety of all clients and other external and internal stakeholders.
Recognizes and reports unsafe conditions and maintenance problems to supervisors, and intervenes immediately as needed to ensure safety. (ie. Blocks access to wet floors, etc.) Adheres to infection control procedures on an ongoing basis.
Ensures buildings are secured and locked at appropriate times.
Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment: reports needed repairs, safety hazards or conditions requiring outside vendor services.
Replaces light bulbs and fuses.
Uses all equipment and chemicals in a safe manner and according to directions and / or as trained.
Follows written directions when using chemicals and ensures they are mixed safely.
Uses equipment appropriately, to avoid cuts, sprains and any other injuries to self or others.
Employs proper lifting techniques to prevent injury to self or others.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, including Safety Meetings.
Wears proper clothing (i.e. Slip resistant, closed toe shoes) at all times to ensure safety.
Works during hours that do not times that do not impose safety hazards.
Requests assistance from coworkers as needed to ensure safety (i.e. Lifting furniture, etc.).
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
Reports and responds to client grievances immediately, representing US&S in a positive manner.
  • Works effectively with coworkers and supervisors to accomplish goals. Provides training and mentoring as needed to new employees.
Requests and provides assistance to coworkers as needed.
Intervenes when safety issues present themselves.
Informs supervisor when tasks need to be reprioritized and / or when assignments or schedules need to change, or when assignments cannot be completed.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Additional Job Functions
  • Provides training to other Electricians as needed.
  • Engages in Quality Assurance Functions, such as reading and filling out checklists.
  • Participates in any investigations, including the need to write statements and /or participate in interviews orally.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures, including those prescribed in the US&S Employee Handbook and the US&S, Inc. Safety and Health Program Manual.
Competencies
  • Deductive Reasoning: Electricians need to be able to look for problems in complicated electrical grids, isolate the issue and solve it.
  • Logic: Electricians need to be able to look at electrical blueprints and scan them for issues, making sure that they work before installed
  • Manual Dexterity: Working with wires, using hand tools and handling small components requires manual dexterity.
  • Math: Math is needed to analyze and create schematics
  • Observation: Electrical technicians need to be able to look at electrical grids and evaluate them for any problems, to make sure they are being installed correctly.
  • Problem Solving: Electrical techs need to be able to identify issues and make corrective measures to fix problems with electrical components.
General Physical Requirments
  • The physical activity for the Electrician position is:
  • Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stares, and ramps using feet and legs and/ or hands and arms.
  • Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing and crouching on narrow and slippery surfaces to clean.
  • Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing for sustained periods of time.
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, and has an ability to navigate from one location to another.
  • Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting. Must raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to-to-position.
  • Manual dexterity that allows the use of hands and fingers to turn on machines and safely push a mop and / or buffing machine.
  • Feeling. Must be able to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Assesses potential safety threats, such as by exposure to chemicals and heat from malfunctioning equipment.
  • Talking and hearing. Able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discrimination in sound.
  • Repetitive motions. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and and/or fingers.
  • Subject to vibration and exposed to oscillating movements of the extremities and whole body, such as when using a buffing machine that needs to be controlled while vibrating.
  • Physical requirements for the Electrician:
Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally and / or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and /or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The visual acuity requirements for the Electrician (including color, depth perception and field vision).
Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and to make general observation off facilities or structures.
  • The Electrician will be subject to the following conditions in this position:
Required to work inside and outside, while being exposed to various climates for short periods of time (less than one hour).
Subject to hazards which includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, and exposure to chemicals.

Required Education & ExperienceHS Diploma or GED.
Associate Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Valid photo identification to enter the work area.

Ability to pass requirements to obtain a security badge, as needed by the client.
Authorization to work in the US as per the E-Verify database.
