US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA is Hiring a Custodial Worker Near Pensacola, FL

Duties

  • Clean hospital room, office space, storeroom, corridor and other similar areas.
  • Vacuum, damp mop, scrub, wax and polish floors.
  • Operate motorized combination scrubber-vacuum machine.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpet and use wet and light power system buffer and scrubbing machinery.
  • Clean, disinfect and deodorize lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls.
  • Load rubbish into carts and transport it outside the building and unload it into commercial containers.
  • Complete supply request forms when more materials are needed or when equipment needs repair or replacement.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee works Monday through Sunday (irregular work schedule), some weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • May occasionally be assigned to Maintenance On-Call duties or duties in the Housekeeping Section.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.
  • Nights, weekends, overtime, holidays and on-call work schedule is required.
  • This position requires to lift up to 44 pounds and occasionally more.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Custodial Worker ~ During the past two years I have demonstrated the ability to be a reliable and dependable worker. I have received no seriously derogatory reports on my work performance or conduct as it relates tardiness, attendance, self-motivation, completion of assignments on time. My resume reflects current or past experience performing this task. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort such as using scrubber-vacuum machines, vacuum cleaners, dust and wet mops. Continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching, frequently lifting and emptying trash, pushing carts loaded with trash and disposing of contaminated and infectious waste. Possible exposure to infectious disease and contaminated waste in disposal of trash. May be required to lift items up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors in areas that have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Exposure to the outside elements will occur when dumping trash. There is a chance of slips on wet floors with possible cuts and bruises. There is possible exposure to infectious diseases.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
