US Federal Aviation Administration is Hiring a Supervisory Engineering Technician Near Oklahoma, OK

Duties

The work directed usually includes routine project/program tasks based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines. The incumbent has managerial authority over their organizational segment that provides on-site services required for FAA National Airspace System (NAS) systems, facilities, and other interagency and international customers’ facilities operations worldwide.

Managerial duties affect employees in one organizational unit and include: setting priorities; assigning tasks; monitoring and evaluating performance; establishing performance standards; coaching and developing employee capabilities; approving funding for training; approving leave; and taking or recommending corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate. Provides on-going administrative supervision over personnel including position selections, promotions, hearing and resolving complaints, resolution of grievances, and awards.

Applies comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, a detailed knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures, and a detailed understanding of the objectives of the organizational unit. FLM duties include providing quality on-site services by managing a group of employees responsible for providing fabrication, testing, inspection, overhaul, repair, and modifications for multiple programs simultaneously. Adjusts staffing levels and work assignments within the unit to accommodate resource allocation decisions made at higher echelons.

Uses assigned budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish project/program objectives. Manages budget and requests additional resources, as needed. Contributes to budget planning process and projects short-term future needs.

Contacts are primarily within the organizational unit/major subdivision with subordinates, peers, and higher-level managers to discuss the status of projects/programs and to share information. In some areas, may also have frequent contact with customers to explain policies, procedures or for other project/program purposes.

Established guidelines, policies, and procedures typically govern work. Resolves routine problems independently, but consults with higher-level management when existing guidelines are not available or applicable to complex problems. May be called upon to assist in the development of new policies and procedures.

Incumbent is responsible for maintaining and ensuring products and services are delivered in accordance with the FAALC quality system and customer service initiatives. Individual and organizational performance is typically reviewed periodically by higher level management, often through status reports and organizational performance measures, to ensure timeliness, policy compliance, and alignment with project/program objectives.

This position requires involvement with and access to classified materials involving Customs & Border Protection Law Enforcement systems, projects, programs, files, drawings and data. The applicant will be required to successfully complete a high risk security level clearance (i.e. Background Investigation).

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-I (FG/GS-13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-H, (FG/GS-12) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Includes experience leading national service programs staffed with technical workforce teams deployed simultaneously across large geographical areas i.e. the Continental United States (CONUS), and have experience overseeing staff and employees who work with heavy industrial equipment in an industrial setting (i.e. on-site technical field support performing preventative and corrective maintenance, providing emergency restorations on complex electronics systems, and supporting structures). This experience includes allocating resources and infrastructure; directing staff; and customer reporting processes.

In addition to the Minimum Qualifications, the following has been determined to be a Quality Ranking Factor for this position. This means well qualified candidates will have demonstrated the following:

  • Quality Ranking Factor (QRF):Well-Qualified candidates must demonstrate experience providing project management and leadership for internal or external customer programs that affect multiple on-site teams deployed simultaneously performing site inspections, maintenance, overhauls, and/or quality oversight of contractor construction projects on-site within their resume.
