Job Summary: The Patient Care Representative will function as the first point-of-contact for the overall patient experience. The representative will be primarily responsible for assessing patient needs, scheduling patient appointments, and assisting with any inquiries from patients, providers, or others. The role’s secondary responsibility will be to serve, as needed, at the Front Desk/Patient Check-In area and/or the Patient Check-Out area. It is important that the Patient Care Representatives are polite, attentive, and organized. Additionally, they should be able to effectively communicate with patients and assist them in any way they can.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Answers and triages incoming calls in a high volume setting in a courteous and highly professional manner. Provides patients with an exceptional, one of kind experience that leads to high levels of patient satisfaction.
  • Responds to incoming appointment requests via email, Phreesia and other alternate paths into the practice.
  • Accurately schedules appointments according to our practice templates and protocols.
  • Assists referring physicians with scheduling patients.
  • Effectively obtains patient demographic, clinical and insurance information and enter accurately into our practice management system.
  • Collecting insurance and demographic information from patients to adequately schedule or manage check-in and check-out.
  • Managing time of service collections included in the check in and check out processes.
  • Communicating with internal team members to resolve patient inquiries.
  • Identifying trends that are impacting patient satisfaction and communicating to leadership.

  • You have world-class customer service skills and enjoy exceeding our patients’ expectations by delivering the gold standard in service.
  • You can maintain a high degree of confidentiality that meets all HIPAA requirements.
  • You enjoy learning about ophthalmology, optometry, dermatology, and cosmetic facial surgery.
  • You have strong oral communication skills. You communicate clearly, professionally and with a high level of self-awareness to patients and co-workers.
  • You have excellent listening skills. You listen to our patients with the intent to understand, evaluate and quickly offer alternatives.
  • You have strong computer skills and can manage multiple programs at one time with ease.
  • You are a team player and can come up with great ideas!
Education and Experience:
  • Experience within a professional environment with a strong customer service focus.
  • Previous experience within the medical field (preferred)
  • High School diploma
  • 1 year customer service experience
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position located in Venice, FL.
Travel to other locations may be required.
