US Department of Defense Education Activity is Hiring a Teacher (Virtual School) Near Quantico, VA

Duties

The incumbent:
Teacher, DoDEA Virtual School Duties:

    • Assists students in completing online work as appropriate.
    • Monitors and tracks the progress of students.
    • Creates, maintains and updates communication log for assigned students.
    • Is available to staff, students and sponsors on an as-needed basis via phone, instant message or other synchronous communication tools.
    • Communicates regularly with students, sponsors, staff and assigned administrators.
    • Collaborates with other educators in required content area digital learning communities (DLCs) to exchange ideas and utilize best practices for online learning.

  • You will be required to sign a Mobility Agreement.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
  • You may be required to sign a transportation agreement.

Applicant must have at least a Bachelor's Degree.
Quantico, VA- 0368 Teacher, World Language (American Sign Language)- A bachelor's degree a major in foreign language education, or a minimum coursework of 30 semester hours in the subject area for which the candidate is applying, which incorporates at least 15 semester hours in second language methodology courses (i.e., linguistics, methods of teaching, secondary foreign languages, identification, design, and development of world languages instructional materials, language, literacy and cultures, standard and content- based methods of sequent language teaching, etc.) are required. A masters in second language or modern language education is preferred but not required.
Sembach, Germany- 0300 Teacher (Mixed Secondary) (0361 Computer Science)- A major in computer science, a minimum of 18 semester hours in computer science or 12 semester hours in computer science with additional qualification as a teacher of mathematics, science, or business is required. Course work must include programming languages such as JAVA, C , VISUAL BASIC or other equivalent computer programming course work. Advanced Placement Computer Science A (9027) is preferred. Must have a second High School level certification.
Sembach, Germany- 0371 Teacher (French)- A major in foreign language or a minimum of 30 semester hours of foreign language course work in the subject area for which applying is required. A minimum of 12 semester hours of upper level foreign language course work is required. Advanced Placement French (9019) highly desirable.
Sembach, Germany)- 0300 Teacher (Mixed Secondary) (0340 Teacher, Mathematics High School) (0240 Teacher, Mathematics Middle School)- 0340 Math- A minimum of 30 semester hours in mathematics is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours in upper level mathematics. Only math credits earned from a Mathematics Department are acceptable. A second category is not required. 0240 Math Middle School- A minimum of 24 semester hours in mathematics. Course work must include a minimum of 9 semester hours of upper level course work in mathematics. Only math credits earned from a Mathematics Department are acceptable. Must have either Advanced Placement Calculus (BC) (9014) or AP Stats (9015) for consideration.
Sobe, Japan- 0300 Teacher (Mixed Secondary) (0360 Business) (0361 Computer Science)- A major in computer science, a minimum of 18 semester hours in computer science or 12 semester hours in computer science with additional qualification as a teacher of mathematics, science, or business is required. Course work must include programming languages such as JAVA, C , VISUAL BASIC or other equivalent computer programming course work. Preferred applicant will have Advanced Placement Computer Science Principals (9047) certification.
