US Defense Logistics Agency is Hiring a Tools and Parts Attendant Near Mechanicsburg, PA

Duties

  • Receives, stores, maintains and issues hand tools, power tools and mechanized equipment and supplies utilized in the repair and overhaul of Industrial Plant Equipment.
  • Researches catalogs, tools and parts listings, supply manuals, etc. for supply substitute and interchangeability information
  • Issues parts and common hardware items to workers; provides assistance in analyzing the workers’ requirements and suggests possible substitutions
  • Checks returned items for damage and to ascertain maintenance requirements
  • May perform minor repair on tools as necessary
  • Receives incoming stock; checks names, quantities, and condition of items against receiving documents; and places in bin locations
  • Conducts inventories to determine items requiring replenishment; makes determinations to either retain present levels or to delete
  • Prepares and submits production reports on all work accomplished and backlogged.
  • Processes and issues material in appropriate inventory management system.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Tools and Parts Attendant, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and that you have the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is performed on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds, may occasionally handle items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Hand trucks, dollies, and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is generally done in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. The attendant may occasionally work in areas that are drafty. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. The attendants are frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
