US Commander, Navy Installations is Hiring a MWR Recreation Assistant / Lifeguard Near Kitsap County, WA

Duties

  • Performs rescue work, promptly renders CPR or emergency first aid and calls for medical assistance as necessary
  • Supervises swimmers for safety and crowd control
  • Enforces safety and pool regulations
  • Promptly reports safety hazards to supervisor
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds in the pool area
  • Responsible for testing chemical levels
  • Provides instruction to youth and adults in incremental swim lessons/lifeguarding/CPR courses
  • May assist with scheduled pool parties, after hours of operation or with base wide special events
  • Schedule includes evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required.

Qualifications

  • Must be a responsible individual with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with the public
  • A neat and clean appearance required. Incumbent will need to quickly acquire a basic knowledge of the rules and practices of the equipment used
  • This position may require the incumbent to be available to work special events, weekends and holidays
  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must possess a valid lifeguarding certification from a recognized agency or obtain it within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to pass a 250 yard timed swim test
  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing.

Additional information

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
