General Summary
The EHSS/ISO Specialist is an internal employee who will be directly involved in all aspects of EHS (compliance, program evaluation, inspections, documentation, safety committee) and ISO / e-Stewards (renewal of certifications, internal audits, documentation) while developing and carrying out environmental, health, safety, quality, and ISO initiatives for each facility and the company as a whole.
Essential Job Functions
- Support all Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability reporting, audits and functions
- In coordination with the Director of EHSS and other management, complete and file EHS documentation for URT facilities as directed
- Respond to employee, customer and General Manager requests for documentation
- Plans, conducts and/or coordinates semi-annual safety audits and industrial hygiene surveys at all corporate sites
- Participate in ongoing development of an effective, safe and healthy work environment, including, but not limited to updating corporate safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and programs
- Provide appropriate updates and reports to management team as necessary
- In coordination with the Director of EHSS, coordinate and facilitate Management Review Meetings
- Guides and assists plant personnel at locations with critical safety and health problems
- Reviews company accident statistics and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas
- Provides guidance to site Safety Committees
- Manages & maintains Incident Reporting Database (SpiceWorks)
- Assist the Director of EHSS with environmental analysis, audits and documentation
- Provide assistance in all other areas of corporate EHS as assigned, including downstream vendor qualification audits – overnight travel may be required
- Work directly with management team to identify, create and update procedures and work instructions required for certification/re-certification
- Maintain documentation as it relates to the ISO process regarding Downstream vendors; BOLs, permits, etc.
- In coordination with the Director of EHSS, help train a team of internal auditors to perform periodic internal audits to test procedures and work instructions
- Assist in the coordination of audits by external parties
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

- Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, work overhead, walk and kneel for extended periods.

- Ability to occasionally travel to other URT facilities or vendor facilities
- Occasional availability to work across all shifts in operation to provide necessary training
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) helpful; Speak, read and write English at a professional level required
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in EHS or related; relevant EHS/ISO and business experience, particularly in recycling, will be considered in lieu of a relevant degree.
