Urology Healthcare Group, Inc. is Hiring a PACU Secretary Near Nashville, TN

Urology Surgery Center - Nashville, TN has an immediate need for a PACU Secretary to join their team!

The Unit Secretary works under the supervision of the PACU supervisor and nurses to perform all Unit Secretary activities.

In accordance with the Mission and Vision of Urology Surgery Center, L.P., Center personnel provide services in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional and social needs with respect to the beliefs and values of co-workers, patients and their families.

  • Demonstrates competency upon hire in performing all related job tasks/functions.
  • Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians.
  • Working knowledge and comfort with computer use.
  • Cross-trains in other Center areas to serve as staff team member.
  • Maintains regular attendance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answers all incoming calls into the Center in a timely and courteous manner. Directs calls as necessary, answers inquiries as appropriate and takes messages when required.
  • Schedules appointments for all USC patients, enters orders medications and lab requests as directed.
  • Assists with clerical aspects of Performance Improvement in the USC under the direction of the PI Coordinator and the USC Supervisor. This will include, but not be limited to, data collection and development of data collection tools.
  • Facilitates patient discharge including, but not limited to, preparation of discharge statement for the patient.
  • Checks all planners for completion in preparation of planners going to Charge Posting and Anesthesia Charge Posting.
  • Performs chart management including initiation of patient charts as needed, obtaining and filing patient charts accurately, filing patient information, test results and other records in the patient chart, breakdown and organization of charts, and copying of medical records as required.
  • Performs chart review for completion and presence of physician and nurse signatures.
  • Makes out USC daily schedule and distributes throughout USC.
  • Assists in maintaining computer, printer and other administrative equipment.
  • Adheres to an exemplary code of ethics at all times.
  • Maintains proficiency in Windows 98, Microsoft Office, and Computerized Scheduling System.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Adheres to Center policies and procedures.
  • Actively supports and participates in a team environment.
  • Displays accountability and responsibility for the performance of assigned functions.
  • Utilizes all Center resources in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Keeps equipment in good working condition.
  • Attends required in-service education, meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Participates in Center-sponsored community events/marketing activities as requested.
  • May be asked to relieve USC Receptionist and USC Schedulers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates understanding of personal responsibility and activities related to the OSHA programs including hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens.
  • Directly responsible for identifying and reporting adverse or dangerous situations without fear of reprisal.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of Center charging and discharge policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Medical Record Management.
  • Knowledge of Center departments/services and operational relationships and goals.
  • Skill in defining problems, collecting data.
  • Skill in computer applications.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations and compute ratios and percentages.
  • Ability to work pleasantly and effectively with patients, public and other co-workers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED certification.
  • Previous experience in healthcare setting, such as Medical Practice or Ambulatory Surgery setting.
  • Excellent typist (50-60 words per minute).
  • Knowledge of various computer applications.
  • Knowledge of Flexible Scheduling Practices.
