Responsibilities:
- Review and process prior authorization requests for medical procedures and treatments
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather necessary information for prior authorizations
- Ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate for submission
- Follow up on pending authorizations and provide updates to relevant parties
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information
- Collaborate with medical billing and coding teams to ensure accurate coding and billing practices
Requirements:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems
- Experience working in a medical office setting
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and prior authorization requirements
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with healthcare professionals, insurance companies, and patients
- Attention to detail and ability to accurately review and analyze medical records and documentation
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
