UroGen is Hiring a Senior Director, Field Medical Team Lead Near Princeton, NJ

Job Summary

The Senior Director Field Medical Team Lead will manage and mentor the UroGen medical science liaison (MSL) team and lead all Medical Affairs Field activities for the UroGen’s products, including UGN-101 (JELMYTO®), UGN-102, and other products as appropriate under the supervision of the VP Medical Affairs. This position will provide operational and strategic support to execute Medical Affairs HQ and field-based goals and objectives. The role will be instrumental in developing UroGen’s thought leader engagement strategy and shaping the implementation of medical knowledge and clinical practice for our novel products. This position will involve cultivating and managing professional relationships and oversight/health initiatives at a companywide level. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead Field Medical Team recruitment, development, training, oversight including performance management, and retention.
  • Supervise training, on-boarding and professional development plans of all Field Medical.
  • Conduct field rides regularly to provide in-person direction to and mentorship of MSLs.
  • Foster a culture of high-performance Field Medical Leaders through diversifying experiences.
  • Anticipate Field Medical team needs and advocate for appropriate resources to meet these needs.
  • Provide clinical and medical guidance and strategy to MSLs and cross-functional team based on insights for medical affairs.
  • Effective internal and external collaboration to evolve scientific engagement with key experts, payers, health care systems, advocacy groups, and health authorities.
  • Oversee field medical training and collaborative projects amongst the medical field team and other departments for planning and execution of medical affairs activities. These include but are not limited to conference planning, advisory boards, payer presentations, publication planning, field force training, investigator-initiated studies, creation and review of standard response letters, HEOR analysis, and review of promotional materials and marketing initiatives.
  • Implement and manage priorities for the Medical Science Liaison Team including developing and ensuring alignment in medical education activities, presentations, participation in medical/payer meetings and other appropriate venues to enhance knowledge of disease state and UroGen products as appropriate.
  • Develop national and regional-level KOL engagement plans. Identify, develop and maintain relationships with KOLs within Urologic Oncology.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with individuals across the organization including cross functional teams to represent Medical Affairs strategy and tactics.
  • Identify gaps in Medical Affairs communication and literature and propose solutions to address and resolve these needs.
  • Participate in the IIS process and Grant review process for related projects.
  • Ensure that all activities and interactions comply with UroGen’s guidance, policies and procedures.

List of qualifications:

  • PhD, PharmD, MD in Life Science or other related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered. 
  • A minimum of 10 years of Medical Affairs experience, preferably within Urology and Oncology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading an MSL Team.
  • Urologic Oncology and rare disease experience a plus.
  • Proven Leadership, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Highly effective presentation, communication, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
