Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you play a vital role in providing quality care to our patients. This position requires knowledge of veterinary practices and procedures, through client communication, and excellent animal handling skills.
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians in providing care to patients
- Handle and restrain patients during examinations and procedures
- Prepare treatment areas for procedures
- Clean and sanitize equipment and instruments
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as bloodwork, cytology, and urinalysis
- Assist with radiographs and ultrasound imaging procedures
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary setting is preferred
- Knowledge of animal behavior
- Familiarity with canine and feline handling techniques
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and aseptic technique
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
