URBN is Hiring an URBN Associate Manager Regulatory Compliance Near Philadelphia, PA

Role Summary

URBN is searching for an Associate Manager of Regulatory Compliance to help support our global business within the Global Trade and Compliance team. In this exciting role, the Associate Manager of Regulatory Compliance will play a critical role in ensuring Regulatory Compliance is prioritized within the business, and URBN is selling safe, reliable products to its customers. The Associate Manager will support the Regulatory Compliance team to ensure URBN products are compliant in the various geographic regions in which URBN does business. The Associate Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring URBN teams are kept up-to-date on the everchanging regulatory landscape, and URBN is proactively approaching compliance with these regulations. They will also have the opportunity to actively spearhead and contribute to new, exciting initiatives in the Regulatory Compliance department at URBN.

Role Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze regulations in the US and Canada, as well as other geographic regions as needed, and ensure department leadership is aware and educated about relevant regulations
  • Ensure URBN Regulatory Guidelines and other relevant documents are updated as needed
  • Regularly communicate with UK Regulatory Compliance team to ensure a global approach to compliance
  • Manage URBN’s Prop 65 compliance program and improve program as needed
  • Support with remediation of product safety related issues, and/or potential product recalls as needed
  • Oversee URBN’s product labeling compliance; work with service bureaus to ensure labels are updated as needed to remain compliant
  • Oversee URBN’s Conflict Minerals compliance program
  • Support URBN brands and vendors through the implementation of the MoCRA regulation
  • Implement Regulatory Audit process to ensure product sold by URBN is compliant with relevant regulations, and vendors are compliant with URBN policies
  • Work with internal buying and production teams to ensure product safety is considered in the design, development and procurement processes.
  • Manage the oversight of customer reviews to ensure Regulatory Compliance team has visibility to any potential product safety issues
  • Partner with third party labs, counsel and relevant enforcement bodies as needed
  • Collaborate with Brand and Production teams to increase education and awareness of key Regulatory Compliance issues, and build partnerships to accelerate progress toward our goals
  • Engage with industry peers and external stakeholders to benchmark, and to gain a deeper understanding of Product Safety issues and industry approaches to compliance

Role Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze information to drive business decisions, manage project plans and resources.
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and strong team player
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, highly preferred
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in a Regulatory Compliance or product safety related role, preferably in the apparel and/or retail industry
  • Clear track record of successfully developing and implementing Regulatory Compliance strategies and programs
  • Proven experience reviewing & analyzing Regulatory Compliance test reports
  • Demonstrated experience reading and effectively analyzing regulations from various geographic governing bodies
  • A strong foundational knowledge of product safety, especially in the retail industry
  • Knowledge of important product safety regulations/issues including industry best practices and emerging approaches
  • Well-versed in Regulatory Compliance initiatives and organizations within the apparel/retail industries
