URBANA is Hiring an Operations Manager - Cannabis Dispensary Group Near Oakland, CA

Urbana is one of California’s leading cannabis dispensary brands with two award-winning locations in San Francisco with plans to open more stores in 2022. We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager with multi-unit retail or hospitality experience to help facilitate that expansion and deliver our high standards of customer service and retail performance. Cannabis industry experience is not required--just proven accomplishments managing a high-energy business in a rapidly changing consumer marketplace.

The Operations Manager role fuses hands-on retail with senior administrative responsibilities and involves frequent commuting between locations and working with all members of our growing team--from executives to store personnel as well as vendors and contractors. This position is a strategic hire that will work closely with the CEO and COO to ensure a smooth expansion rollout as well as constant monitoring of 20 key performance indicators.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Create and sustain a climate of industry-leading customer service.
  • Oversee the process of product ordering and follow the directives of the CEO in the implementation of strategic purchasing objectives.
  • Initiate programs that reduce COGS and reduce inventory-related costs.
  • Collaborate with senior managers in the execution of the Company’s co-pack/white label programs. As required, develop high-integrity systems to support the profitable operation of these programs.
  • Ensure POS is accurate: rectify any deficiencies immediately.
  • Oversee scheduled inventories.
  • Monitor and ensure that retail products are efficiently stocked and re-stocked.
  • Review proposed contracts and work orders from vendors.
  • Participate, as requested in marketing and other programs approved by the CEO and COO to drive revenue, increase guest satisfaction, reduce cost and improve the Urbana brand.
  • Support specific retail events with logistics, supply and on-site activities.
  • Ensure the integrity of POS interfaces as well as loyalty and other digital platforms
  • Oversee menu management and the implementation of discounts on all digital platforms
  • Oversee the interface of digital systems and control the exploitation of personally identifiable information and other risk considerations
  • Develop (with senior management) and deploy (with corporate office admin and finance team members) best corporate practices in office administration, records management, digital file organization, IT security, office-to-retail logistics and general organization.
  • Review monthly and quarterly P&L reports.
  • Manage inventory of equipment, fixtures and other assets of the company.
  • Oversee IT systems, including but not limited to POS, HR, data storage, email and security and ensure that they are functional, updated, secure and supervised.
  • Handle service and warranty activities for corporate equipment.
  • Coordinate IT needs and monthly security review with IT consultants.
  • Procure and setup new hardware to corporate standards.
  • Assist senior management in the enforcement of compliance obligations.
  • Manage all insurance coverage and claims including annual competitive bidding.
  • Perform a monthly safety inspection of each facility and spearhead repairs, maintenance, safety factors and compliance obligations.
  • Collaborate with HR Manager on proper implementation of OSHA requirements.
  • Manage off-site storage facilities.
  • Conduct competitive bidding for new service contracts and periodic review of existing contracts.
  • Approve invoices for operational expenses.
  • Facilitate the opening of new stores by handling all logistics and project management associated with licensing, construction, outfitting and other operational requirements.
  • Exert physical effort in transporting 5 to 40 pounds and endure various physical movements throughout the work areas including reaching heights up to 6 feet.
  • Work under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold), under variable noise levels either outdoors or indoors and around fumes and/or odor hazards, dust and/or mite hazards and around chemicals identified under Prop. 65 warnings.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience as a Director of Operations, Operations Manager or general manager, preferably with retail, hospitality, or multi-unit experience.
  • Previous experience in retail, hospitality or hotel environments.
  • Past P&L responsibility including preparing financial projections, cost reports, cost analysis and executive reports
  • Multi-unit operations experience including rapid expansion.
  • Excellent analytic skills, including advanced experience using business intelligence dashboards and systems.
  • Advanced experience with all Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel) and Google Workspace applications.
  • Strong IT oversight skills and administrative and recent experiences with modern POS and data storage systems, platform migration and records integrity.
  • Ability to work from field locations and deliver exceptional results from a non-traditional office setting.
  • Experience negotiating software licensing agreements, property leases, insurance policies, vendor contracts and other material transactions.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills and listening skills. Ability to pass on all necessary information to the Management Team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English, multilingualism will be considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Background check (after offer of employment made).
  • Certificates in first aid, CPR and other lifesaving techniques are preferred.
  • Must be 21 year of age, per state law
  • High school diploma or GED. College degree preferred
