GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
A Home Visitor works with Early Head Start Families, children, pregnant women, and staff in assessing and responding to the individual needs of enrolled children and pregnant women through home visit services. This person works independently and within a team to implement, and ensure compliance with, Head Start Performance Standards and state Childcare Licensing Regulations.

  • Participates in all required meetings and training, and shares ideas or suggestions with colleagues as appropriate.
  • Follows health and safety protocols.
  • Communicates effectively with the direct supervisor, the management team, and peers.
  • Follow the home-based services policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as necessary or assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Collaborate with Family Advocates with the recruitment and enrollment of families to include supporting an active waiting list and maintaining an active caseload.
  • Plan, facilitate, and maintain two socialization events per month that meet the developmental needs of infants and toddlers and encourage parent/child interactions.
  • Establish a stimulating, safe, and rich learning socialization environment with distinct learning areas and develop lesson plans for socialization events.
  • Coordinate and assist with scheduling activities and program events.
  • Conduct at a minimum, weekly 90-minute home visits with enrolled families and children and support all service components at each visit.
  • Model positive parent/child interactions, and developmentally appropriate practice implementing a research-based curriculum.
  • Work with parents to strengthen their knowledge of child development through anecdotal observations and evaluations of home visits.
  • In partnership with parents, conduct children’s observations, developmental screenings, and assessments.
  • Support parents to develop and implement individual education goals and plans.
  • In partnership with parents, implement individualized activities to support children with disabilities and/or with challenging behaviors, based on children’s developmental goals.
  • Support the Early Intervention Services referral process for children with developmental concerns.
  • Recruit and encourage parents to participate in parent meetings and Policy Council.
  • Support parents with the family strength/needs assessment and family goal-setting process.
  • Build partnerships in the community with agencies/programs that provide services to children and families served.
  • Refer families to the community for additional services to support their needs.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and/or REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED
  • A home-based CDA Credential or Family Development Credential or a comparable credential with equivalent coursework in Early Education/Child Development.
  • Valid driver's license, ability to pass criminal record clearance, and pre-employment requirements.

WORK CONDITIONS
Ability to see at normal distance, hear normal conversations and sounds and use hands and fingers to fill out required forms. Will drive regularly, work in the office and remotely. May work evenings/weekends to meet required timeframes.
