Urban Sky is Hiring a Hardware Engineer Near Denver, CO

About Urban Sky:

Urban Sky is a venture-backed aerospace startup redefining the way we analyze Earth from the stratosphere. We design, build, operate, and sell stratospheric balloon systems. The data we collect supports a range of applications, from real-time wildfire monitoring to urban mapping.

We are writing the next chapter of stratospheric history in Denver and are seeking self-starting, open-minded, and hard-working team members.

Role Description:

Our hardware team is growing rapidly with a handful of unique R&D system in the works. To support this development we're seeking a generalist who can assist with testing, design and fabrication of several hardware projects. Our ideal candidate is a mid to entry level engineer seeking a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

This position is onsite at our Denver, CO HQ.

Key Functions:

  • Prototype flight systems for use in the stratosphere
  • Conduct bench and field testing of various R&D systems
  • Collaborate with hardware team (mech, electrical, software) to identify test objectives

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science (or similar).
  • 2 years of industry experience. We are open to a range of experiences and levels
  • Mechanical 3D CAD experience
  • PCB design (Altium, etc.) experience
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles
  • Ability to work independently

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience designing for space or near-space environments
  • Hands-on experience field testing systems
  • Rapid prototyping experience (3D printing, CNC, etc)
  • Software development experience
  • Exposure to a startup environment

Benefits:

  • Salary $75,000 - $100,000 per year
    • We are required to post this salary range per Colorado law. Your salary will be determined based on your abilities and experience.
