Job Description:

U.G.G. is staffing for a 24/7 human services operation that aids asylum seekers with temporary refuge for families with minor children, single adult women, adult families, or single men by providing stay, food, medical care, reconnection services, and connection to social services.

Additional details about expectations for the social workers include, but not limited to:

Mental Health Services

• Culturally competent short-term counseling, crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and psycho-education
• Advocacy on behalf of the family when working with NYC Administration for Children’s Services or other preventative services
• Making referrals and appropriate linkages
• Communicating and collaborating with external service providers to enhance engagement and ensure quality of service delivery
• Providing education and training to other staff on mental health and holistic support needs and benefits
• Facilitating family meetings with the family and staff to discuss planning efforts and progress
• Coordinating with emergency services, hospital social workers, and discharges, particularly around laboring individuals and newborns
• Coordinating on domestic violence cases, particularly in instances where a 911 call must be made
• Handling transfers to domestic violence shelters
• Casework and Resource Navigation

Minimum Requirements:

• Licensed within the State of New York
• Have a verified degree
• Level II background screening
• An annual drug test.
