Urban Education Institute is Hiring a Director of Compliance - 2023/2024 School Year (UChicago Charter School Corp) Near Chicago, IL

The University of Chicago Charter School is a neighborhood charter school on the South Side of Chicago, operated by the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute. Comprised of three campuses spanning all grades from early childhood through high school, UChicago Charter is a PreK to 12 superhighway that empowers students to RISE to excellence at every level, cultivating critical thinkers and leaders for success in college and in life.
North Kenwood/Oakland, founded in 1998, educates children from prekindergarten to grade five. Donoghue, created in 2005, also serves children from prekindergarten to grade five. Woodlawn, established in 2006, educates students from grade six to grade twelve.
Position Summary:
Working with School leaders and Operations staff, the UChicago Charter School Director of Compliance is responsible for ensuring compliance with all state and local school reporting, management of state and city grants, and ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations set for UChicago Charter School. The UCCS Director of Compliance also manages all UCCS Board administrative responsibilities.
Principal Job Responsibilities:
Gathers key data for all reporting for the Network and manage all compliance reporting and submissions to ensure the University of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools, and Illinois State Board of Education regulations are fulfilled.
Develops, supports and implements charter school protocols and procedures, and works to improve operational systems across the UCCS network.
Aligns network mission/vision, including reimagining the "UCCS way," and ensuring consistent communication of this vision.
Supports the implementation of streamlined operational systems across the network. Provides oversight and assigns tasks to operations staff in order to ensure conducive workflow.
Creates, modifies and distributes the annual UCCS compliance calendar to Operations Managers, Finance and Human Resources staff.
Provides training and support to School leaders and Operations Managers on how to access and upload data and/or reports to Chicago Public Schools, Illinois State Board of Education and other school reporting systems.
Responsible for all UCCS Board coordination and management responsibilities. Records minutes in all UCCS Board meetings during the school year, prepares and disseminates the UCCS Board books to all members. Ensures all minutes and board meeting announcements are posted timely and in compliance with Open Meetings Act (OMA) regulations. In addition, manages all board meeting invitations, RSVPs, and compliance with OMA.
Manages all city and state grants, specific to Chicago Public Schools, Illinois State Board of Education, and the Office of Innovation and Incubation and other entities, and ensures school compliance with these grants.
Ensures network compliance with Title IX, including the grievance procedures for resolving complaints involving students and staff. Keeps informed of current legislation related to Title IX. Conducts investigations on all complaints or issues.
Creates and provides network-wide student and staff training, and prevention programming that safeguards against future harm and prepares school staff to address any instance of harm promptly and appropriately. Promotes agency and awareness among students and parents, ensuring they are fully informed of the resources and supports available to them. Ensures training offered meets all mandates required under federal, state, and local laws.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Previous school compliance management experience required. Previous board administrative management strongly preferred. Working knowledge of Title IX legislation.
