Upstate Services Group is Hiring a Director of Housekeeping Near Albany, NY

Upstate Services Group is seeking a Housekeeping Director to join our dynamic team of professionals in the Albany Region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for staffing the department.
  • Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, cleaning schedules, etc.,
  • Serve as on-call for emergencies and off-duty hours. Ability to fill in for department call-outs if necessary.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of housekeeping and Laundry Departments personnel.
  • Train assigned personnel in the proper techniques of mixing chemicals, cleaning disinfectants, and solutions; of cleaning methods; and the use of equipment, etc.
  • Ensure and uphold the highest standard of cleanliness and quality for entire facility.
  • Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings, training and in-services.
  • Maintain inventory and order coordinate ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Adherence to department budgets.
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of all areas of the building, coordinating with the Maintenance Department for any needed repairs.
  • Assign equipment to staff; monitor daily equipment use, cleaning & maintenance.
  • Ensure proper safety and security regarding patient belongings and items used in carrying out housekeeping and laundry functions.
  • Performs regular inspections of patient areas and rooms for sanitation, safety and proper performance of assigned duties
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Housekeeping Department, its programs and activities.
  • Make daily rounds to assure that housekeeping personnel are performing required duties and to assure that appropriate housekeeping procedures are being rendered to meet the needs of the facility.
  • Develop procedures for performing daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Schedule work assignments, preparing cleaning schedules, etc.
  • Inspect storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply inventory control.
  • Ensure that personnel are performing assigned tasks in accordance with established housekeeping procedures.
  • Develop and maintain written housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Assist the housekeeping staff in the development and use of departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, and etc.
  • Coordinate housekeeping services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Dietary, Nursing, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of applicable Department of Health regulations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines housekeeping functions in the long-term care facility.
  • Must have, a minimum, 2 year experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Housekeeping Department.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into exiting housekeeping practices.

Job Types: Full-time,

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
