Upstate Niagara is Hiring a Sanitation Vacation Relief Supervisor Near Buffalo, NY

Working within the limits of authority and within company policies and procedures, directs the activities of the Production, Cooler/warehouse, and sanitation teams. The focus of the position will be to lead the facilities sanitation efforts. This role will work closely with our Union workforce, management team, and Ecolab to improve our sanitation program. This role will be required to cover night shift Supervisor vacations which account for about 20% of the year. This role will report to the Plant Manager, with indirect responsibility to the Sanitation Governance Manager at the corporate office.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the performance of direct reports.
  • Ability to think analytically.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Must show enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work and a commitment to the organization and its mission.
  • Good computer skills, demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Word, Teams and Excel
  • Good human relations skills, ability to work well with others and be a team member.
  • Prior sanitation experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or business discipline.
  • Prior experience in Dairy/Food manufacturing.
  • Food manufacturing CIP system experience.

Knowledge and Experience:

Dairy experience is preferable, otherwise he/she will be trained to know and perform all Company, State and Federal regulations pertaining to receiving, production, shipping, and CIP of all Plant equipment. He/she must have a full understanding of Safety regulations, Plant Sanitarian regulations and procedures, SQF, GMP’s, Union and Disciplinary Contract procedures, all management functions, and good communication skills.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms above the shoulder. The employee may be required to climb and/or balance on ladders.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow and maintain all Safety – Security rules and regulations.
  • Work with Safety Manager to monitor, maintain, and reduce incidents and events.
  • Complete injury investigations in a timely manner.
  • Follow and enforce all GMP’s and Discipline in the Plant.
  • Working in conjunction with Plant Leadership and the Sanitation Governance Manager:
  • Responsible for daily cleanliness in the Plant (inside-outside).
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for the sanitation department.
  • Evaluates sanitation program for cost savings or shelf-life improvement recommendations.
  • Assist with physical cleaning of equipment in the event of staffing shortages.
  • Perform auditing of various areas of the production facility, identifying and taking appropriate action on sanitation related findings
  • Works with chemical supplier to maintain a weekly and monthly chemical inventory.
  • Ensure sanitation records are complete, accurate, and in compliance
  • Working with the site Quality Manager to ensure compliance with Quality programs such as master sanitation, NYS regulations, HACCP policies and Federal regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain product tank holding times based on NYS regulations.
  • Maintains employee records such as time sheets, absences, tardiness, and over time by using the Company payroll system.
  • Works with Lead Supervisors to implement proper training for employees.
  • Responsible for communications with other Plants or Customers.
  • Works with Production lead to create and administer 30-60-90-day reviews.
  • Responsible for creating and adjusting batch tickets based on internal specs and NYS/Federal requirements.
  • Work with Lead Supervisors to maintain and improve production downtime and efficiencies.
  • Works with night supervision team to transition from load out and filling to the sanitation start up.
  • Work with Maintenance manager to maintain and/or improve existing operations.
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple shifts and to cover Supervisor vacations.
  • Must be detailed orientated with a strong ability to communicate with others.
  • Must have strong decision-making skills.
  • Must be curious and driven to challenge the status quo.

Pay: $58,600k-$76,200k/yr.
