The Upper Valley Haven provides temporary shelter, supportive housing, food, and problem solving to those in need in addition to school year and summer programming for children. The Haven offers a 9-week summer program for children who are either current or former guests of the Byrne Family Shelter. This program is free of cost for families and provides kids with week-long activities including cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, and sports, as well as time to be active outside. All children also go on field trips including swimming, hiking, and fishing. The summer intern would help with all aspects of facilitating a daily summer program for kids, including engaging with the kids in many different activities (as described above), providing 1:1 support when needed, helping prepare meals, attending field trips, helping to communicate with families, and other logistical details.
We are seeking a summer intern to assist in creating and facilitating an engaging and educational summer program for children participating in the Upper Valley Haven Summer Program. The intern would be encouraged to help create the content of the summer program alongside the Children’s Services Team, as well as helping to support engagement with outside organizations that partner with the Haven throughout the summer to offer programming.
