POSITION: Coach Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Programs Director

SALARY: As per agency salary schedule FLSA: Exempt

HYBRID WORK: Eligible

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Supports program compliance of all regulatory agencies.
  2. Follows hiring processes and supports staff through onboarding process in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
  3. Supports coaching staff in providing appropriate support to staff who are experiencing performance issues including: suggestions, Performance Improvement Plans and reprimands.
  4. Knowledge of Practice Base Coaching and Positive Behavior Invention and Supports.
  5. Provide oversight and support for observation tools: CLASS, TPOT and TPITOS.
  6. Provides leadership in the development, monitoring and program related decisions for: curriculum, Program Goals, GOLD, School Readiness Goals, PIR, ERSEA and disabilities.
  7. Participates in Community Assessment, Self-Assessments and Annual Reports.
  8. Lead Coach and Coach/Coordinator Meetings.
  9. Leads planning of Policy Council meetings and training in conjunction Administrative Coordinator and Early Childhood Programs Director.
  10. Provides leadership and opportunities for staff that foster equity and team cohesiveness: critical thinking, conflict resolution and strong communication skills.
  11. Assists in assessing and evaluating program planning including: policies, procedures, the program’s self-assessment and goals.
  12. Completes documentation in order to meet requirements including: HSES, ERSEA, PIR, DHS, IQ4K, TEACH and WAGE$. 
  13. Engages in ordering and budgeting processes in collaboration with the Fiscal Department.
  14. Participates in professional growth and development. 
  15. Responsible for program professional development opportunities based on data and program requirements.
  16. Complies with policies and procedures.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Access, input and retrieve information from computer.
  2. File and organize Head Start information.
  3. Inventory supplies and equipment.
  4. Familiarity with computer knowledge and skills in computer operations.
  5. Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  6. Viable means of transportation, and evidence of insurance, valid Iowa driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  2. Minimum of a Bachelor Degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience.
  3. Prefer previous preschool teaching experience.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Ability to work as an effective team member.
  6. Knowledge in curriculum, assessment, and effective educational practices
  7. Skilled in supporting Education Coaches in mentoring/monitoring classroom staff.
  8. Skilled in supporting Home Base Coaches in mentoring/monitoring home base staff.
  9. Act as substitute in classroom in event of staff absence.
  10. Knowledge of HS Performance Standards, State Licensing rules and NAEYC Accreditation Policies.
  11. Certifications: Mandatory Reporter, First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions and CLASS.
  12. Limited Chauffeur’s license with acceptable driving record to transport children in isolated instances.
  13. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 5-10 pounds constantly, performing such activities as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, including some duties requiring repetitive motion skills, such as keyboarding and computer use.
  14. Initial physical and one every 3 years thereafter.
