UPMC is Hiring a Part-time PVL Technologist Specialist- Neurology (20 hours/week) Near Pittsburgh, PA

Are you an experienced vascular technologist looking for the next step in their career? 

UPMC is hiring a Part-time PVL Technologist Specialist to support their UPMC Stroke Institute team in Pittsburgh! This position will work within their accredited Neurovascular Ultrasound program, treating a wide range of stroke patient disease processes at the UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Mercy locations. In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, provides technical expertise to multiple business units. Functions as a resource to staff to provide orientation, continuing education and protocol development. 

This position will provide daylight weekend coverage with one weekday and rotating holiday coverage, as needed. No evening or on call required! This position will support both the office at UPMC Presbyterian and Mercy campuses. 
Responsibilities:

  • Leads training on new techniques and protocols for research studies and collaborates with vascular surgeons, fellows, residents and researchers where applicable to identify new techniques and problem solving resolutions.
  • Attends advanced training sessions and seminars in order to maintain industry standards in imaging techniques and disseminates information to vascular lab or imaging departmental leadership and as a part of new hire orientation.
  • Creates and implements new training programs, where applicable, and assists with the startup of new offsite locations. Responsibilities for new locations include, but are not limited to, working on reporting systems and image management, obtaining appropriate images and effectively communicating with attending physicians as well as co-workers and patients.
  • Be an integral part of rolling out of hospital and department Quality Initiatives, cost-savings, and Culture of Service Excellence.
  • Responsible for tech quality assurance program and the reviewing and updating of protocols alongside of or in place of the lead sonographer, technical coordinator or program director. Assumes leadership role in training staff on new equipment.
  • Assist with lab accreditation responsibilities.
  • Serves as a technical resource to sonographers on a daily operational basis. Assist technologist with continuing education needs and participates as a peer delegate in staff annual performance reviews.
  • Participate in lab standardization practices with regards to regulatory bodies and requirements.
  • Perform vascular diagnostic examinations in accordance with Level I and Level II Advanced PV Technologist.
