Purpose:
Under the direction of radiologist and MRI supervisor, screens and clears patients for MRI procedures. Assumes responsibility for other related duties.
Responsibilities:

• Confirms patients' appointments for the following day.
• Assists technologist with patient as needed.
• Obtains all previously completed scans/films needed for comparison with scheduled exam.
• Updates exam date in hospital computer system following completion of exam.
• Use of the Radiology Information System and Sorian Scheduling System.
• Places follow-up phone calls to other medical facilities, doctors' offices, etc. as required to obtain previous films, surgical records, and all other pertinent information.
• Conducts phone interviews with patients to obtain in-depth background in order to schedule for MRI scans.
• Assures all necessary paperwork is received prior to patient's arrival in the Department.
• Fills emergency appointment slots as needed.
• Directs patients to dressing room, informing them what articles of clothing must be removed, providing them with a hospital gown and informing them what to do with their clothing and valuables.
• Notifies Admission Office of add-on appointments not included on the schedule.
• Complies with established occupational BBF and TB exposure policies.
