UPMC is Hiring a Graduate Nurse: UPMC East Near Monroeville, PA

Are you a current student nurse graduating in Fall/Winter 2023, Spring 2024 or Summer 2024 and looking to continue your nursing career at UPMC?

UPMC East is pleased to announce we are NOW HIRING Graduate Nurses as full-time Professional Staff Nurses. Graduate Nurse Opportunities are highly sought-after and help recent graduates launch their nursing career at UPMC!

UPMC East Unit Descriptions:

  • 3E ICU- The Intensive Care Unit provides care to patients requiring life-sustaining medication drips and mechanical ventilation. These critically ill patients call for 24/7 hands-on care from nurses and interdisciplinary staff.

  • 3W Stepdown- The patient population on the Stepdown unit typically requires increased care from MedSurg units but less than ICU. These patients are critically ill but stable at that time.

  • 5E MedSurg/Oncology- This unit’s level of acuity ranges from observation patients to cancer patients requiring chemotherapy transfusions. Once certified, the nurse can administer the chemotherapy.

  • 6W Post-Surgical- The post-surgical nurse is responsible for providing care to the patient following surgery. This includes total hip replacements, knee replacements, broken legs, etc.

  • 6E Rehab- This is an inpatient rehabilitation facility known for their intense rehab schedule following strokes, neurological disorders, limb loss, etc. The nurse is responsible for 24/7 care, ADLs, and getting patients to and from rehab in a timely manner.

  • 4 East Med/Surg- The medical-surgical unit cares for a wide variety of medical and post-op patients, adolescent through geriatric. It also serves as our Telemetry floor, where patients with cardiac conditions will find care.

  • CDU- The Clinical Decision unit is where patients go to be evaluated for a specialty hospital. (ex: critical burns or psychiatric needs)

  • ED- The Emergency Department is a non-age-specific unit that provides care for levels of acuity ranging from chest pain or abdominal pain to stroke, gunshot wounds, or stabbings. This is a fast-paced unit that requires great focus and time-management.

  • Resource Unit- The Resource unit is a place to develop multiple skills and care for patients with a mixed variety of diagnoses. Resource RNs develop skills to be highly flexible, and work well in teams. The RN has the opportunity to be assigned to all medical surgical units, the Clinical Decision Unit, and, in time, advance to provide care in the Stepdown Unit. Previous health care experience is preferred, but not required.

What can you Expect as a Professional Staff Nurse?

The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Professional Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients’ families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
