UPMC St. Margaret 4A Rehab Unit is currently hiring a Clinician Fellow OR Clinician based on education and experience of the final candidate. This position will work Daylight hours 36-44 hours per week (80 hours per pay period). Both 8 and 12 hour shifts will be required working either 6am-6:30pm or 6am-2:30pm. Flexible weekend, holiday, and off shift responsibilities (must be able to work if needed to ensure adequate staffing, but will rotate within the leadership team). The ideal candidate will have Rehab experience and currently working at the bedside in a hospital.
About 4A Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation:
UPMC St. Margaret 4A Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility is a 28-bed facility in an acute care hospital. Our facility provides comprehensive rehabilitation services part of an intensive rehabilitation program. Patients who are admitted must be able to tolerate 3 hours of intense rehabilitations services per day. Rehabilitation services include treatment by a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, rehabilitation nursing, PT/OT, SLP, orthotics, respiratory, case management, social services, and/or nutritional services. The Rehabilitation team treats a variety of conditions including, stroke, orthopedics, arthritis, neurological disorders, and general debilitation.

Our mission is to Help patients with altered functional ability & lifestyles reach their goals and their highest level of function by the time of discharge by providing them with individualized efficient, effective care & rehabilitation services.
Staff on this unit work as a close-knit team to provide life changing medicine to their patients. Given the extended length of time that patients spend on this unit, staff have an opportunity to create meaningful relationships with their patients. The culture on 4A is one of teamwork, positivity, and encouragement. Staff collaborate closely with our physicians and physical, occupational, and speech therapy teams to provide interdisciplinary care to their patients and help them work towards achieving their goals. While the work can be physically demanding, the sense of self-fulfillment that the 4A team gets out of helping their patients progress is what keeps many of our staff members on the unit for most of their nursing careers.
About the Clinician Fellow/Clinician Role:
The Clinician Fellow/Clinician is a highly developed role model of professional nursing practice with focused expertise and accountabilities in one or more of the following: expert clinical practice, teaching/development, and/or evidence based practice. This role partners with management in the achievement of a culture of excellence in professional nursing practice and patient care.
The Clinician Fellow/Clinician, under the direction of the Unit Director or Department Manager, assists in the completion of employee evaluations, selection and hiring of staff, and in performance management. The Clinician Fellow/Clinician has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process.
The Clinician Fellow/Clinician, in collaboration with other health care professionals, applies superior clinical knowledge and skills to achieve quality patient care outcomes. The Clinician Fellow/Clinician is responsible for providing service-based education and clinical expertise for staff including orientation and training, consultation on practice issues and general coordination of clinical activities on a shift basis.
They must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care that is relevant to patients under their care, as well as apply principles of growth and development over the life span. The Clinician Fellow/Clinician also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs. The Clinician Fellow/Clinician demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects level of education, experience and manager discretion at time of offer.
