UPMC Shadyside is currently hiring experienced Casual Registered Nurses to support the Medical ICU (MICU). 

About the Position & Unit:

The Medical ICU at UPMC Shadyside is a 20-bed critical care facility, the largest of Shadyside’s ICUs. The MICU primarily cares for critically ill oncology medical, cardiac, and post-stem cell transplant patients, however, due to its size, the MICU frequently receives overflow from many other areas of the hospital. You can expect to see procedures such as tracheostomies and bronchoscopies right at the bedside, as well as the use of ventilators, vasopressors, and CRRT machines. The MICU is very team-oriented, which is important as the unit can feel hectic at times; the MICU is an extremely rewarding environment for nurses who enjoy thinking on their feet to meet challenges and solve problems.

Experienced nurses with 12 months of ICU or RN experience will be considered. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder based on their individual experience and education. Title and salary will be determined based on education and nursing experience.

Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers. Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system's goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.Creates a caring and compassionate patient-focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Demonstrates accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and the quality of patient care. Actively participates in unit-based shared governance, and goal setting and supports the change and transition process to improve quality of care and the practice environment.
