Uplift Education is Hiring a Health Office Aide: Uplift North Hills Primary 24-25 School Year Near Dallas, TX

Primary Purpose:
The Health Office Aide carries out limited health-related tasks such as providing basic first aid and dispensing medications according to established protocols. The Health Office Aide may have additional responsibilities based on training or certification the individual may hold. Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provides basic first aid and care for minor injuries and illness and chronic health conditions according to Uplift Education, state and local protocols
  • Take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration rate and blood pressure) only if trained to do so
  • Communicate findings to supervising school health staff
  • Contacts parents of students who need to be picked up from school according to established school health services protocols or as directed by the RN
  • Contacts EMS according to established school health services protocols or as directed by the RN
  • Maintains student health records (sorting, filing, reviewing for completeness), including immunization records
  • Assists with or, if trained and certified, conducts mandatory screening programs and collects data and submits required reports as directed
  • Orders and maintains health office supplies
  • May serve as an Unlicensed Diabetes Care Attendant (UDCA) after receiving appropriate training
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and/or Certification(s)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) required
  • Previous experience in health care and/or training in first aid or CPR preferred.
  • BLS certification required
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form in English. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Bi-lingual Sills: Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Technology: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and other computer software. Ability to use basic office equipment. The ability to learn and use other software as necessary.
  • Other Skills: Knowledge of project management processes preferred.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and balance and use wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time. Exposure to bacteria and/or communicable diseases is possible.
Work Environment: The environment requires being in close proximity to other employees, frequent interruptions, extended periods of time viewing a computer screen, and noise levels from moderate to high. Travel within the Uplift network is required. May require someone outside work in the heat or cold. Some weekends will be required.
Starting Salary: $16.66/hr.
