Upham Hotel is Hiring a Sales Manager Near Santa Barbara, CA

The corporate team for The Upham Hotel & Cottages and Back Bay Inn are looking for a Sales Manager. This is a unique opportunity to oversee the group sales and transient business for two iconic properties on the California Central Coast. In this role, you will manage the existing corporate relationships, as well as promote and sell new group business to the two assets. This is a critical role for the corporate team and will be focused on continuing to build group revenue at The Upham and Back Bay Inn.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Solicit new and develop existing group and corporate accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through outside sales and written communications.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports, and file maintenance.
  • Develop & maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
  • Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
  • Proactively manage all existing and new accounts.
  • Manage the preparation of proposals and contracts. Responsible for ensuring the sale's closing, the collection of deposits, and the prepayment of assigned accounts.
  • Create offers and sales actions to prospect for low occupancy dates. Develop promotions and sales campaigns for implementation in the assigned market segments.
  • Contribute to the annual marketing plans and budget process. Review goals and action plans on a scheduled basis.
  • Develop new marketing tools/collateral for the assigned market segments. Coordinate and monitor scheduled direct mail efforts.
  • Maintain expenses within the budgeted guidelines.
  • And other required work.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Sales Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Hospitality and General Manager. The Sales Manager works in the corporate office with the team (located at The Upham Hotel & Cottages) as well as with the team members in all departments of the hotel operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of hospitality experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in hotel management preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Some travel required
  • Open to hybrid schedule
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pound.
  • Primary worksite is indoors.
