Contractors Steel Company powered by UPG, is looking for a Machine Operator in Van Buren, MI. Contractors Steel is a growing steel service center that has been in business for almost 60 years and is looking to hire a Machine Operator to join our dynamic team! Successful candidates will ideally have worked in the steel industry (but not required) and have a solid level of experience with the types of specialized products and services produced by steel service centers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• The Machine Operator will operate a 25-ton crane
• Identify and measure different types of structural material
• Reading prints and understanding nesting requirements for processing customer orders
• Working/Operator level knowledge required for Burn Department: Plasma, Oxy Fuel and Laser burning equipment (Messer, Tanaka, Amanda, Python and Peddinghaus)
• Understand operating instructions, machine controls and HMI (Human Machine Interface) for steel processing type of equipment

Position Requirements

• Plasma and/or oxyfuel burning experience
• Experience with measurements
• Basic math skills needed
• Overhead crane experience, large structural material movement/rigging experience
• Must be able to complete criminal background check and drug screen per company guidelines
