Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
Updike Distribution Logistics (UDL) Final Mile Regional Operations Specialists are responsible for effectively managing the KPI’s for dock efficiency, routing, and customer correspondence within their regions. They oversee on time delivery and proper completion of customer orders, using discretionary judgement to make decisions while monitoring routing and staffing.

Essential Job Functions:
Plan, distribute, oversee and follow-up daily route assignments to ensure servicing customers as per company standards.
Ensure deliveries exceed customer expectations for service and promptness.
Maximize the number of delivery stops for Final Mile delivery drivers.
Minimize driver mileage while maximizing profit.
Dispatch and communicate with Final Mile delivery drivers to make sure they are in agreement with company standards and understanding routes.
Build manifests and construct routes in the most efficient way possible.
Confirm delivery dates, times and orders with Final Mile customers.
Effectively communicate with Final Mile/UDL customers and vendors
Schedule returns of unsatisfactory product or canceled orders.
Attend meetings and contribute to company strategy and policy-making as required
Checking and responding to daily emails in a timely manner.
Help solve problems and make informed decisions that affect the service and profitability of the company.
Ensure Final Mile Delivery Drivers are trained on the Dispatch Track driver application along with other Grasshopper functions.
Final Mile drivers also need to be updated and have knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
Logistics Management experience: 2 Years
Customer Service experience: 2 years
Understanding of the transportation industry, especially final mile or last mile operations.
Experience in routing and scheduling of delivery trucks and drivers
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel and Outlook.
Experience of 2 years in a role managing carriers with a strong preference for final mile carrier management
The ability to learn and utilize assorted freight / traffic information and billing systems.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of Dispatch Track or other transportation management software and applications.
Have knowledge of Final mile/Last mile deliveries and knowledge of Third Pary Logistics roles and functions.
Education and/or Experience:
Higher education and/or equivalent experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Effectively communicate in writing and verbally
Work Environment:
Candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Candidate must be able to multitask and manage multiple facets of communication (text, emails and phone calls)
Temperature controlled office environment.
