Position SummaryResponds to calls for emergency medical services and provides patient care as directed and/or determined
necessary.
Essential FunctionsSafely navigates ambulance to patient's location. Provides stabilization of scene and requests additional
assistance as necessary.
Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources. Administers
emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation,
from the scene to receiving medical facility.
Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives from supervising Physician
or Registered Nurse.
Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum Education:
Successfully completed MDHHS approved EMT course
Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
LicensesEmergency Medical Technician (EMT) license
Valid Michigan driver's license
CertificationsBasic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, And Stabilization (PEARS) (Preferred)Trauma Course (ITLS or PHTLS) (Preferred)
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (Preferred)Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), VFIS Driver Training, or equivalent (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience6 months field experience in EMS (Preferred)
