Position Description

Position Title: Process Planner - Shell Rock Plant

Position Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Job Duties and Accountabilities

Principal Function Of The Position:

The primary responsibility of this position will be handling the facilities Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process review to determine if any tooling or fixturing needs created or modified. This individual will be responsible for the planning of manufactured and purchased parts for tooling and fixturing, which includes the requisitioning, routing and releasing of job orders. This individual is responsible for monitoring inventory errors, missing parts and record keeping processes throughout the plant, and will provide other support data as needed by the manufacturing team at the Shell Rock facility.

This position is also responsible for maintaining effective communications with co-workers, supervisors, and managers at all levels within the Shell Rock plant that are impacted by his/her daily work activities. This individual must also interact daily with his/her supervisor and co-workers to promote and maintain a work environment that encourages employee involvement, participation, and teamwork.

Primary Responsibilities of This Position:

  • Engineering Change Notice (ECN)
    • Review and approve every ECN for any tooling or fixture changes needed.
  • Create all tooling job orders in ERP System (Syteline).
    • Maintain T# log.
    • Create, route and add job materials, and release jobs as required.
    • Reviewing planning detail if using production parts. Work with planners if anything is needed.
    • Monitor progress and priority.
  • Inventory monitoring and research.
    • Research negative inventory report and take corrective measures as needed.
    • Lost part research
    • Dead stock review
  • Review past due parts reports to search out production issues before production is affected.
  • Prepare requested reports as needed by management.
Education Requirements

This position requires an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management or another related discipline. A person who possesses an Associate degree in one of these related disciplines and has 5 plus years of applied work experience in part routing and bill of materials creation, inventory management, planning and/or scheduling in a heavy manufacturing environment, can substitute the required Bachelor's degree with this experience.

Job Requirements and Prerequisites
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blue prints
  • Proficiency in written, verbal and interpersonal and shop floor communications skills are critical.
  • Proficiency in critical thinking skills and multi-tasking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in general computer skills.

    Job Preferences

  • Prior experience with Autodesk/Cad software.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding and apply various blue prints and technical documentation.
  • Prior experience (minimum 1-3 years) working with materials requisition planning and scheduling.
  • Prior working knowledge of heavy manufacturing, fabrication, coating and assembly processes.
  • Prior working knowledge of shipping and distribution processes.
  • Prior working knowledge of MRP production planning and scheduling system and processes.
  • Proficiency in use of planning, scheduling, and releasing computer software.
