General Summary:

The role is responsible for helping to launch and/or manage new opportunities, as well as strategic initiatives within the existing portfolio, from evaluation of markets through to product development, and for supporting the development of the business' long-term growth strategy. This role will manage and execute assigned projects in line with Unum Expanded Solutions priorities, working closely with internal partners to support the continued development of the Expanded Solutions portfolio.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Support development of Unum Solutions strategy and strategic priorities by identifying, analyzing, and addressing complex business issues and developing actionable plans

• Identify, analyze, and prioritize new market/partnership development opportunities through extensive competitive research, local market sales and service activities, strong understanding of businesses adjacent to Unum and important macro trends (regulatory, technological, economic, social, and demographic)

• Effectively partner with internal stakeholders as relevant to help delivery of new initiatives and key performance indicators

• Support with general data and analysis, including but not limited to, business case analysis of new initiatives, general business support

• Key business partner working with IT to help bring business perspective and voice of customer to ongoing development work

• Ability to drive analysis on special projects evaluating new strategic initiatives on existing products (e.g., new distribution opportunities, cross enterprise collaboration, partnerships, etc.)

• Owning and project managing small and mid size initiatives to drive disciplined delivery and consistent visibility within established timeframes, including robust documentation and project planning

• Support leadership team in strategy development work and in preparing for and developing associated content for various internal forums

Job Specifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• 3-5 years of experience in business strategy, corporate finance, business management or consulting or in benefits industry preferred
• Comfortable working with stakeholders across the organization with varied levels of seniority
• Assimilate and adapt to Unum’s culture while managing change using strong influencing skills, while operating in a new/unfamiliar environment, and working effectively within a highly matrixed organization.
• General business acumen, and ideally knowledge of the basic economics of financial services & business services companies
• Entrepreneurial mindset; a self-starter with a problem-solving orientation
• Focused on quick results and fast turnaround, including a consistent focus on output/deliverables
• Very strong problem structuring and analytical skills, including a quantitative mindset
• Very strong verbal, written communication skills, including presentation writing. Ability to translate complexity with clarity,
• Superior project management skills; strong collaborator
• Fast paced, comfortable with tight deadlines, multiple priorities, fast turnaround times and ambiguity
• Strong team player given startup/collaborative nature of the expanded solutions team

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$63,500.00-$114,300.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
