General Summary:

Unum is adding a Senior Digital Transformation Specialist to our team! This Senior DTS is a part of our Data Journey and is responsible for proactive assessment and identification of technology processes improvement opportunities and be instrumental in implanting a digital oriented solution that will improve efficiency, quality and/or customer experience. The role will be considered a subject matter expert in process analysis and will leverage strong business and technology skills to influence and drive change. They will ensure that solutions being considered align with the strategic direction of the company and are of high quality and will result in a significant financial ROI for the assigned functional area. The individual, along with leadership, will be responsible for the achievement of the goals and objectives of the assigned projects.

The role will rely heavily on extensive technical and analytical skills to independently leverage technology and data to communicate recommendations and influence buy-in to all levels of leadership. This role may serve as a manager to a small team of transformation professionals and/or will help coach and develop lower level peers.

Our Data Journey team is in close partnership with Enterprise Data & Integrations and Enterprise Architecture – is leading the development, implementation and scaling of an Enterprise Data Operating Model and Governance Framework. Data is the foundation for all we do, fueling our operations, analytics, strategic decision making and innovation. It must reflect where we’ve been and prepare us for where we are going. Our mission is to make enterprise data the trusted source for all data needs by providing a foundation that is reliable, accurate, and relied upon as a strategic asset for growth and innovation. The Senior Digital Transformation will be tasked with working across Business, Change and IT to support the delivery of critical enterprise data programs

Job Specifications

  • This is a Hybrid Opportunity, which is defined as 2 days on campus and 3 days remotely. Our campuses are located in Portland, Maine, Chattanooga, TN, Atlanta, GA and Columbia, SC.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent relevant business experience.
  • 5-6 years of experience delivering value to customers through problem solving, analytics, and/or digital assets, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience in a leadership role for implementing digital solutions in a rapidly changing agile environment.
  • Building employee enthusiasms as a result of reducing repetitive tasks and empowering teams to solve challenging business problems.
  • Identify and improve all stages of the customer journey by working together to enhance Unum’s products and services improving internal collaboration.
  • Be an outstanding storyteller and influential voice amongst business partners, advocating for customer needs and the experiences needed to meet those needs, leading to customer centric product strategies.
  • Strong business, financial and digital/technical acumen.
  • Results oriented with strong people, leadership and change management skills.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking ability.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to be able to balance multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience delivering data and/or digital based solutions that have a direct impact on customer experience.

  • Experience executing on technical process oriented projects.
  • Demonstrates strong focus on quality delivery and delighting customers; holds self to high standards of delivery.
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively present to varying levels of leadership including senior leaders

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Play a leadership role in technology and process assessment of an assigned organization and present digital solution recommendations to varying levels of leadership.
  • Establishes strong, effective and collaborative partnerships with key business area leaders, project managers and subject matter experts to identify specific business opportunities or to address business needs or problems and help build effective solutions.
  • In close partnership with the Product Owners, provide direct input into technology and digital roadmap strategy for the assigned functional area to ensure that solutions align with company strategy and will have a significant impact on operational readiness, customer experience and financial ROI.
  • Create business plans for assigned projects including accurate financial cost benefit modeling.
  • Simplify and reimagine processes in order to create transformational experiences through digital assets
  • Design digital solutions that align with strategic objectives, support business goals and delivery efficiency gains to reduce costs to operational areas while improving the experience for our customers.
  • Acts as a champion of change leading organizations through digital oriented transformations and continuously research emerging trends in digital technology solutions.
  • Independently conduct complex quantitative and qualitative analysis of both the external marketplace trends as well as existing internal processes to recommend and influence actional recommendations.
  • Understanding Voice-of-the Customer (VOC); identifies opportunities through surveys, customer interviews and focus groups. Will leverage digital based technology solutions to improve business performance and improve CSAT.
  • Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the operational area of assignment as well having a broader understanding of other functional areas.
  • Lead mid to larger sized projects with a focus on utilizing data driven analysis to drive outcomes that will improve customer experience and operational readiness for digital solutions.
  • Proactively identify learning opportunities to increase both technical and operational knowledge of the industry and company.
  • Mentor lower level transformational specialists.
  • Exercises creativity and resourcefulness in solving technical problems in a way that maximizes the customer experience and improves operational efficiencies

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$89,400.00-$174,800.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
