TheCollege of Population Health (COPH) welcomes applications for the Director ofSocial Work Program, open rank, tenured and tenure-track faculty to join ourgrowing college. We are seeking an experienced individual who will beresponsible for the strategic planning and development of this new program atthe COPH.

COPHis located at the University of New Mexico’s Health and Health Sciences, whichis also home to the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, and College ofPharmacy. The COPH serves New Mexico’s communities, government and non-profitagencies, businesses and health–related organizations. The College as well as theentire Health and Health Sciences have deep connections to the diversecommunities of Native Americans, Latinos/Hispanics, Asian Americans, andAfrican Americans who collectively comprise 65% of the New Mexico population.The COPH’s mission is to improve the health and health equity for multiplecommunities including low income, underrepresented minorities, and othermarginalized populations.

COPHaims to educate students to practice social work within New Mexico'smulticultural populations. It will provide leadership by preparing students topractice social work effectively while responding to emerging issues impactingour communities. Social work curriculum development, interdisciplinary andcross-institutional collaboration, and research will provide the infrastructureto meet these education goals.

TheDirector of Social Work will be charged with developing a social work program,administering the program, creating a curriculum to meet the program's needs,and teaching social work courses. Strategic planning to meet short- andlong-term goals will be essential. The Director will ensure program success bycollaborating with constituents, internal and external stakeholders, statemental health agencies, and the social work programs of other higher educationinstitutions.

Otherduties will include:

Oversightfor the creation of an advisory board, which will provide support, expertise,and assistance in shaping the overall direction of the program.

Supervisionof all program employees, including a project coordinator, field practicumcoordinator, social work instructors, administrative staff, and studentworkers.

•• Creation of leadership and learning opportunities for students.
••Utilization of online technologies to support program curriculum andinitiatives.
••Support for social work research and professional development opportunities toimprove the knowledge and skills of social work practitioners statewide andfaculty at UNMHSC and other institutions.
••Working jointly with the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department(CYFD) and other applicable agencies and organizations to support state socialwork objectives of strengthening family systems, addressing child welfareissues, identifying vulnerable populations, and similar social work foci.
••Collaboration with the School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry to expandpracticum placements.
••Providing regular reports of program activities and outcomes to collaboratorsand stakeholders, within and outside of the university.
••Acting as an advocate for the work of the program with the New MexicoLegislature, state agencies, and national organizations and agencies.
••Active participation in national and state professional and interdisciplinaryorganizations and taskforces to encourage the inclusion of social workinitiatives related to research and program planning.
••Identifying local, state, and federal funding opportunities to support anddevelop the program’s mission and goals.
••Exploring the possibility of expanding the program nationwide (dependent onadditional funding).
••Management of finances to meet program goals.
••Pursue grant writing to secure financial support.
Presenton the program’s research efforts and activities to leadership.
