Assistant Professor, University of New Mexico Honors College with expertise in Border Studies, Environmental Science, Sustainability Studies, or Community Engaged Research 

The University of New Mexico’s Honors College invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position from scholars with expertise in either Border Studies, Environmental Science, Sustainability Studies, or Community Engaged Research. This is a probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision in the University of New Mexico’s interdisciplinary Honors College. The successful candidate is expected to teach a minimum of two courses per semester, mentor undergraduate students, and conduct on-going research in one or more areas relevant to the above subjects of inquiry. The Honors College is an interdisciplinary college within the University of New Mexico (UNM) that offers unique academic opportunities to high-achieving, highly motivated undergraduate students from all other of UNM’s colleges and schools through an active learning approach. We seek faculty with a student-centered philosophy, innovative ideas, and strong mentorship skills who are engaged in creative, seminar style, experimental teaching, and who can lead undergraduates in research activities and other forms of original scholarship. In addition, applicants must demonstrate a record of on-going scholarship and strong interpersonal skills.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience for junior faculty. The position is available beginning August 1, 2024.
