TITLE: Instructor/Lecturer - Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics

DESCRIPTION: The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE) is searching for an outstanding candidate for a faculty teaching position with additional program related administrative duties (67% Teaching & 33% Administration). Candidates will be considered at the instructor or lecturer level. We seek highly qualified applicants with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and the ability to teach at all levels. The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE) is comprised of world-renowned faculty whose research and outreach programs influence national and international policymaking on issues ranging from how producers, consumers, and agribusinesses manage risk and adapt to climate change to the impacts of new technologies, environmental regulations, federal laws on profitability and human well-being.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The ideal candidate would be capable of teaching a variety of foundational courses in Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE), such as Small Business Decision-Making, Agri-food Strategic Management, and Food and Agribusiness Management. Competitive applicants will show promise of excellence in classroom instruction and will demonstrate the ability to participate and help grow ACE undergraduate and graduate programs. Successful applicants will join the department’s thriving community of creative, passionate, and innovative teaching faculty who contribute to high-quality instruction and content development. Many teaching faculty also engage in administration, research, outreach, and service activities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through research, teaching, and/or service.

SALARY/POSITION: This position is a full-time, 100% nine-month specialized faculty appointment (9-month service basis paid over 12 months), with the possibility of summer appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related fields with interest in agribusiness, agricultural finance, or undergraduate education. At least one year of experience teaching agricultural economics at a higher education institution or five years of industry experience in the field is required. Teaching experience is preferred.

An appointee with a Master’s Degree may hold the title Instructor; An appointee with an earned PhD may hold the title Lecturer.

START DATE: Start date is negotiable, with strong preference for a start date on or before August 16, 2023
