Associate Director for Finance & Operations - Krannert Center for the Performing Arts

Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is now accepting applications for an Associate Director for Finance and Operations. In addition to serving as a member of the Center's leadership team, the Associate Director is responsible for the management of Krannert Center finance, building operations, and the Director's office operations.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of Finance and Operations at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in conjunction with leadership team.
  • Lead appropriate ad hoc departmental and cross-departmental initiatives including plans, projects, reports, efforts to support employee health and well-being, and more.
  • Oversee effective, efficient use of Center resources in coordination with the Director and leadership team.
  • Oversee hiring plan for the Center in coordination with Director.
  • Oversee sponsored project applications, financial administration, and reports.
  • Oversee the administration of major facilities projects—academic-, public engagement-, and accessibility-related—and serve as liaison to other campus units regarding such.
  • Maintain knowledge of Krannert Center’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) efforts and actively apply DEIA principles to the work.
  • Serve as delegate or liaison for director in areas of Finance and Operations when requested or needed.
  • Lead, in coordination with the Center’s Director, in strategizing, developing, and implementing Krannert Center’s budget, the allocation of which is set annually by the Provost.
  • Oversee financial planning with staff to identify and articulate short-term and long-term financial needs as well as unexpected finance-related challenges.
  • Provide current financial data, reports, and systems for use by area managers in their budget development, account management, income and expenditure monitoring, and reporting.
  • Develop and provide expertise in financial planning and policy, resource allocation, budget preparation and reporting, and expenditure analysis and control.
  • Manage compliance with campus financial systems and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison between the Center and other university offices/units.
  • Oversee the activities of the Building Operations department, working closely with the Facility Manager to ensure excellence in service, maintenance, and equipment.
  • Oversee operations of the director’s office suite that includes the mail room, public phone line, and meeting reception area.
  • Oversees relationship between Krannert Center and Technology Services.
  • As appropriate, participate in various committees and initiatives at Krannert Center, in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, and at the campus level. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
  • Three years of professional work experience in business/finance processes in a university, private, or public setting.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Work experience in business/finance for a college, university, or similar institution.
  • Experience with University of Illinois business/financial processes.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and multiple projects simultaneously and to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer-based skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional, flexible, and respectful in all collaborations.
  • Independent judgment and ability to help resolve problems as they arise, dealing with time pressures and changing or conflicting priorities.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5010 - Business/Administrative Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Salary is commensurate with experience.
