University UMC in Irvine, CA is seeking to hire a Children’s Ministry Coordinator responsible to provide vision, direction, recruiting, teaching, and mentoring as to grow the Children’s ministry program. This position is a part-time (average 20 hours), salaried, non-exempt position. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Lead Pastor

DUTIES:

• Direct weekly Kid Jam (Sunday morning/Sunday School activities).

• Coordinate Nursery care.

• Coordinate Children’s Time lesson for 9:30am Sunday service.

• Find, interview, select, and direct Children’s Ministry volunteers.

• Manage and maintain Ministry Safe training records for all volunteers.

• Create both a Christian and safe environment to provide our children with positive experiences and self-assurance.

• Coordinate yearly Vacation Bible School (VBS).

• Develop program that nurtures Christian family life.

• Serve as liaison and support for Child’s World Preschool (CWPS) including monthly chapel.

• Foster relationships with CWPS families through ministries such as Donuts for Grown-ups and Parent’s Night out.

• Maintain contact with all past, present, and potential families with children.

• Participate in planning and collaborating on monthly SHINE activity.

• Plan and execute community events such as Easter and Trunk-or-Treat.

• Coordinate seasonal musical programs with Children’s Music Director.

• Perform other related duties as may be requested or required.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred, and a high school diploma is required.

• Previous experience with children’s ministry.

• Organization and leadership.

• Ability to mentor and encourage youth on their faith journey.

CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS:

• Yearly Salary: $26,000-$34,000 commensurate with experience.

• Availability: o 20 hours per week o Sundays; staff meetings Tuesdays at 11:00am; six Wednesday evenings per year (SHINE); weekdays for monthly CWPS chapel; some weekends (Fri/Sat) for special events.

BENEFITS:

• Vacation: Two weeks per year (40 hours, accumulated as 0.038 per hour worked)

• Sick Time: As per UUMC manual (1 hour accrued per 30 hours worked)

• Insurance: Not available.

• Retirement: Available by self-contribution

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
