The Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, Texas invites applications for faculty members at the rank of Instructor who have a commitment to outstanding research scholarship and graduate education and mentoring.The faculty member would be part of the newly established Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health and work collaboratively with the UTSW health system and/or one or more affiliated health systems - Parkland Health & Hospital System, Children's Health, Texas Health Resources, the VA North Texas Health Care System, and Texas Scottish Rite for Children.

Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in Public Health, Medicine, or related discipline. Candidates with a record of extramural grant support, excellence in teaching, and innovative research are highly preferred.

The Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health will provide unique academic and research opportunities within a culturally rich environment that has Dallas ranked No. 4 in diversity among U.S. cities. The 7.8 million people in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex reside in 13 counties across 9,000 square miles. The majority-minority population is 41 percent Hispanic and 25 percent African American. Close to 20 percent of our region's population are foreign born, speak Spanish only, and lack health insurance.

UTSW's outstanding Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health (OSPH) has a substantial research portfolio and emerging leadership in population health, which will serve as the foundation for building the new school. Faculty members are supported by both quantitative and qualitative methods cores and a full range of pre- and post-grant support services.

UT Southwestern is establishing a 21st-century School of Public Health cemented in its core research strengths and reinforced through integral collaboration with area institutions, health systems, and community organizations aligned with our mission, vision, values and goals. The Department of Pediatrics, with more than 300 faculty members in 18 divisions, provides clinical care in eight locations and maintains an active research program with more than $40 million of annual research funding. UTSW has approximately 3,000 full-time faculty who garner more than $524 million in annual grant funding for research. The UTSW Medical District spans 230 acres in Dallas. Through its own and affiliated health systems - Parkland Health & Hospital System, Children's Health, Texas Health Resources, and the VA North Texas Health Care System - UTSW physicians are central to the care of millions of residents in North Texas.

Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
