University Texas Southwestern Medical Center is Hiring a Chief of Pediatric Transplantation Near Dallas, TX

The Division of Surgical Transplantation at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Children's Health is currently recruiting for a fellowship trained Chief of Pediatric Abdominal Transplant Surgeon. Additional expertise in pediatric hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery is encouraged. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience with candidates likely at the Associate Professor or Professor level. Applicant must be American Board Certified in General Surgery, have completed an abdominal transplant surgery fellowship from an American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) accredited program (or a program of equivalent certification), and be eligible for a Texas Medical License.

Successful candidates will be pediatric abdominal transplant surgeon who is UNOS-certified or eligible as a Primary Surgeon and must meet requirements outlined in the UNOS/OPTN bylaws. In addition to ensuring compliance with all transplant regulatory bodies, this leader will provide leadership to Children's Health to ensure patient care in all current transplant programs (heart, liver, kidney, and intestine) and any future programs (lung, vascular composite allografts, and pancreas) under OPTN/UNOS oversight are delivered according to the highest professional standards. This leader will also be responsible for the strategy, growth, quality, and financial performance of the pediatric abdominal transplant program.

Successful candidates will be committed to patient care, trainee education, and scholarly activity that advance clinical medicine. Candidates will be an integral member of the surgical transplant team, with the opportunity for a secondary appointment in pediatric surgery. The position will entail clinical responsibilities at both Children's Health, Clements University Hospital and Parkland Memorial Health and Hospital System. A commitment to basic or clinical research will be supported.
